About Us
The Pedagogy approach in my program builds on children’s curiosity about the world around them with endless opportunities of play and exploration where I will act as a nurturing, caring role model and responsive play partner. My program follows a play and nature based approach with focus on the development of the whole child. At Little Sunflower Kids Family Home Daycare we understand the importance of attachment relationships.
Relationships are notions for our brain- first and foremost through my unique small setting with 1:1 care I will provide quality interactions with my Daycare children. Interactions and relationships with Early Childhood professionals, parents and others that are important in a child’s Life establish neutral circuits and shape the brain’s foundation. Studies also show continuity of care is very important in young children’s lives. Your child can be with the same educator for many years, will recognise them as important attachment figure, bond deeply and feel confident in themselves, the world around them- this will prepare them for a life-long learning journey. Allowing them to receive individualized attention from someone who knows them well and truly cares about them makes a Family Home Daycare a better alternative to daycare centers, Katharina will be able to provide children in her care with individualized care, that a large-scale operation can’t offer to their families. At Little Sunflower Kids Family Home Daycare we provide a warm, supportive and nurturing environment, where children are respected as individuals with different interests, characteristics and abilities and are offered a curriculum to enrich their learning. |

Outdoors
I am a true believer in the outdoors- myself and my family are always spending lots of time in nature.
Outdoor Play is essential for a child’s healthy development and therefore a fundamental part of my Early Year Program. Daily access to outdoor play is provided (backyard, parks). We will be outside for at least 2 hours a day. (weather permitted) It is important to nurture the children’s connection with nature, you will see your child discover new bugs, plants, trees every day and tell you about the endless fun and engaging nature hunts. Furthermore indoor activities will be brought outdoor to expand and change the learning experience for the children- it can be so much fun to bring the art center outside to let children experiment freely, this will facilitate their development. |

Food
At Little Sunflower Kids Family Home Daycare we understand the importance of healthy nutrition for young children.
We provide a healthy -nutritious morning snack, hot lunch and afternoon snack.
Parents of infants are required to provide formula or breast milk until the child is drinking milk.
Children are offered a variety of foods and are encouraged to try new things- healthy food habits are practiced and Nutrition lessons are taught as a regular part of my program. Food and produce is NOT ORGANIC.
Very young Infants will be introduced to solids if not already done prior to enrollment. We will be working as a team to ensure a good experience for the child and family- transition from a bottle to a cup usually happens during this period as well.
MENUS WILL BE POSTED ON PARENT INFORMATION BULLETIN BOARD IN DAYCARE ENTRANCE.
